AMX Accessory Installation

Before you start

Before you start, make sure you read the AMX User Manual.

The following assembly guide applies to all variants of the AMX. This includes the AMX/AMX STEP/AMX MINI. Pay careful attention to the titles of each of the steps. If your AMX model is not mentioned in the title then these instructions do not apply to your AMX.

Certain connecting bolts and nuts of your AMX have recommended minimum and maximum torque settings. We would recommend going to a professional bicycle mechanic at the end of the build process to ensure all of the connecting nuts and bolts are torqued safely. This will ensure your AMX is ready for your first ride. The torque settings are in a table at the end of the AMX User Manual.

If you want to order AMX Accessories, you can check our website here.

1. AMX Fenders

If you ordered fenders, your bike should arrive with the rear fender already installed. The front fender will be in the bike box.

  1. Start by removing the front fender bolt using the 5mm allen key.
  2. Remove the two fender stay bolts using the 4 mm allen key.
  3. Position the fenders from the back of the fork
  4. Reinstall the front fender bolt back using the 5mm allen key (torque 4-6 N⋅m). Make sure the fender is pushed all the way up.
  5. Reinstall the two fenders stays bolts using the 4mm allen key (torque 4-6 N⋅m)

2. AMX Lights installation

If you ordered a light pack, it will be located in the accessory envelope.

In your light pack you will find:

  • The front light
  • The rear light
  • The rear light cable
  • And the rear light cable connector
Front light installation
  1. Start by removing the front fender bolt using the 5mm allen key.
  2. Install the front light and reinstall the front fender bolt.
  3. Connect the light cable connectors, make sure the two arrows on the connector are facing correctly. (Don't pull the light cable too hard or it may break)
  4. Unclip the cable holder and tuck the extra cable down in the frame hole
  5. You can then put back the cable holder.
Rear light installation

Before installing the seatpost, find the rear light cable within the seat tube. If you have already installed the seatpost, remove it using the 5mm allen key. If the cable fell into the seatpost hole use a long piece of wire with a hook to catch the cable and bring it back up.

Ensure wiring orientation (polarity) is correct when installing. Failure to do so may cause irreversable damage to your AMX
  1. If you use a STEP model, Adjust your saddle to allow space for the rear light
  2. If you have the latest AMX model, the cable is already pre-installed in the seatpost. If you have an early AMX model, thread the rear light cable through the seatpost hole, using the two bare cable ends going in from the top.
  3. Clip the rear light under the seatpost
  4. Ignore this step if you have a late AMX model. Push the cables through the connector, if you have an early AMX Model, insert the red cable into hole numbered 1 and the black cable goes to the hole numbered 2. Push the connectors all the way in, and be sure that the orientation is correct. It will click together when inserted correctly. If you believe you have inserted the cables the wrong way round, please follow this guide. This step is only required for early AMX models, newer models have this cable and connector pre-assembled.
  5. Connect the light cable to the seatpost cable
  6. Tuck the extra cable in the seatpost and slide the seatpost to your desired position
  7. Use the 5mm allen key to tighten the seatpost clamp (max. torque: 7 N⋅m)
  8. Attach the cable to the light, the red goes to the plus and black to the minus. If you have a later model, both cables will be black, the full black cable is negative and the white dashed cable is positive. See picture below for reference:

Your Rear light is now installed. To turn on the lights simply tap the on/off button once the display is on. If you are assembling your AMX, click here to return to the assembly.

  3. Slide the throttle and the plastic washer on.
  4. Reinstall the brake lever, the grip and bar end plug.
  5. You can then tighten the handlebar grip using the 3mm allen key (torque 2-3 N⋅m). And the right brake lever using the 5mm allen key (torque 7 N⋅m)
  6. Use the 3mm allen key to tighten the throttle bolt, don't over-tight (torque 2-3 N⋅m)
  7. Remove the throttle cable protection cap and connect the throttle to the throttle cable (Yellow connector), make sure the arrows on the connector are facing correctly.
